Removing the power button

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the left-side cover.
  3. Remove the front cover.

Steps

  1. Lay the computer on the right side.
  2. Disconnect the power-button cable from the system board.
    NOTE: The above image is provided for illustrative purposes only. You do not need to remove the front I/O cover to access the power-button cable.
  3. Press the release tabs on the power-button module and push the power-button module out of the chassis.
  4. Lift the power-button module, along with its cable, from the chassis.
