Installing the power button with optional fingerprint reader

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

The following image indicates the location of the power button with optional fingerprint reader and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Steps

Align and place the power button in the slot on the palm-rest assembly.
Replace the two screws (M1.6x1.7) to secure the power button to the palm-rest assembly.

Next steps

Install the I/O board.
Install the system board.
NOTE:The system board can be removed and installed with the fan and heat-sink assembly attached in order to simplify the procedure and preserve the thermal bond between the system board and fan and heat-sink assembly.
Install the M.2 2230 solid state drive or the M.2 2280 solid state drive, as applicable.
Install the WWAN card, if applicable.
Install the memory module.
Install the battery.
Install the base cover.
Install the SIM-card tray, if applicable.
