Removing the speakers

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the SIM-card tray, if applicable.
  3. Remove the base cover.

About this task

Steps

  1. Disconnect the speaker cable from the connector on the I/O board.
  2. Remove the speaker cable from the routing guides on the palm-rest assembly.
  3. Remove the six screws (M1.6x1.5) that secure the speakers to the palm-rest assembly.
  4. Release the right and left speakers from the rubber grommets and lift the speakers along with the cable, off the palm-rest assembly.
