Removing the system board
CAUTION:The information in this removal section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

- WLAN-card connector
- Camera-cable connector
- Display-cable connector
- Memory module slot
- Battery-cable connector
- Solid state drive connector
- Touchpad-cable connector
- USH board-cable connector
- Fan-cable connector
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SIM-card tray, if applicable.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the memory module.
- Remove the WWAN card, if applicable.
- Remove the M.2 2230 solid state drive or the M.2 2280 solid state drive, as applicable.
- Remove the fan and heat-sink assembly.
About this task
The following images indicate the location of the system board and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.

Steps
- Remove the two screws (M2x3) that secure the display-cable bracket to the system board.
- Lift the display-cable bracket off the system board.
- Disconnect the following cables from the system board:
- Display cable
- Camera cable
- Touchpad cable
- USH-board cable (for models shipped with a USH board)
- For computers shipped without WWAN card, remove the four screws (M2x3) and the two screws (M2x4) that secure the system board to the palm-rest assembly.
- For computers shipped with WWAN card, remove the four screws (M2x3) and the three screws (M2x4) that secure the system board to the palm-rest assembly.
- Carefully lift the system board off the palm-rest assembly. NOTE:When replacing the system board, do not remove the USB Type-C connector module or transfer it to the replacement system board. The USB Type-C connector module is pre-assembled in the replacement system board .
