Roadmap for Tanzu Kubernetes guest cluster protection

The following roadmap provides the steps required to configure the Tanzu Kubernetes guest cluster in PowerProtect Data Manager in order to run protection policies.

Steps

  1. Add a storage system.
    Add protection storage provides information.
  2. Complete the Set up the Supervisor cluster to perform a one-time configuration required in the Supervisor cluster.
  3. Enable an asset source for both the vCenter Server and the Kubernetes cluster in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI.
  4. Add a VMware vCenter Server that hosts the Tanzu Kubernetes guest cluster as an asset source in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI.
  5. Add a Kubernetes cluster as an asset source in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI. When adding a Tanzu Kubernetes guest cluster, ensure that you create an association with the vCenter Server.
  6. Add a VM Direct Engine in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI that is dedicated to Kubernetes workloads. There should be a minimum of one VM Direct engine per Supervisor cluster.
  7. Create a protection policy to protect the Kubernetes cluster namespace assets and PVCs.
