PowerProtect Data Manager 19.14 Deployment Guide

Manage PowerProtect Data Manager 19.12 user-token expiry

PowerProtect Data Manager 19.12 changed the user-token expiration time from 8 hours to 15 minutes. If the user token expires before an update package is uploaded, the upload resets and starts again. This repetition can occur indefinitely, making it impossible to update PowerProtect Data Manager 12 to a later version. This task describes how to manage the new user-token expiry.

About this task

If updating from PowerProtect Data Manager 19.12 and uploading the update package takes more than 15 minutes, the upload can reset and start again in an endless cycle. Perform the following steps to resolve the issue.

Steps

  1. Log out of PowerProtect Data Manager and then log back in.
  2. Immediately after logging back in, attempt the update process again.
  3. If the update still fails, perform following steps:
    1. Connect to the PowerProtect Data Manager console and change to the root user.
    2. Run the command cd /usr/local/brs/lib/aaa/config.
    3. Edit the file application-jwt-token.yml.
    4. Search for the text user-access-expiration-time: 15.
    5. Change 15 to 60.
    6. Save the file.
    7. Run the command aaa restart.
    8. Log out of PowerProtect Data Manager and then log back in.
    9. Attempt the update process again.
  4. If the update still fails, contact Customer Support.
