Define recovery staging area

Learn how to define a recovery staging area. Staging area is required to enable failback and direct recovery to vCenter operation.

Steps

  1. In the , select Infrastructure > Asset Sources.
  2. Select the vCenter you want to fail back to and click Edit.
  3. In the Edit vCenter dialog box, click Define Recovery Staging Area, and then click Configure.
    The Define Recovery Staging Area dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select an appropriate datastore for the failed back VM in Datastores section, and then click Next.
  5. Select an appropriate network for the VM in the Network section, and then click Next.
    If a proxy server is configured, the recovery staging area network must be accessible by the proxy server.
  6. Configure the following in IP Configuration section, and then click Next:
    • IP Range
    • Subnet Mask
    • Gateway
    • Primary DNS
    • (Optional) Secondary DNS
    To enable multiple concurrent failbacks, click Add Another.
  7. Review the Summary, and click Save.
    An informational dialog box is displayed that confirms the recovery staging area is successfully defined. Click OK to close the dialog box.
