Use this method to deploy the
PowerProtect Data Manager OVA to a stand-alone or cluster host while you are logged in to a vCenter server. This method supports configuring the network settings during the deployment.
About this task
Make note of the following:
Depending on the version of vCenter in your environment, the order of required steps might differ from the order in this procedure.
It is recommended to deploy the OVA to a vCenter server rather than to an ESXi server.
From the
Actions menu, select
Deploy OVF Template.
The
Deploy OVF Template wizard opens.
On the
Select an OVF template page:
Browse to the OVA package:
Select
URL and type the URL path to the OVA package.
NOTE:This option is not available when deploying the OVA on an ESXi host.
Select
Local File, and then click
Choose File and browse to the OVA package location.
Click
Next.
On the
Select a name and folder page:
Specify a name for the virtual appliance.
Optionally, specify the inventory location. For example, a data center or VM folder.
Click
Next.
On the
Select a compute resource
page:
Select the destination compute resource.
Click
Next.
On the
Review details
page:
Verify the OVF template details.
Click
Next.
On the
Configuration page, select the configuration that matches the
PowerProtect Data Manager deployment environment. This configures
PowerProtect Data Manager with the appropriate settings.
On the
Select storage page:
Select the datastore in which to store the configuration and disk files.
In the
Select virtual disk format field, select
Thick provision lazy zeroed.
Click
Next.
On the
Select networks
page:
Select a destination network for each source network.
By default, the top network is selected. Ensure that you select the correct network, which may not be the top one in the list.
Click
Next.
On the
Customize template page:
Specify the Network IP address , which should correspond to the network you select in step 8.
Specify the default gateway.
Specify the network netmask.
Specify the DNS server. You can configure up to three DNS servers.
NOTE:Select
Yes for
Use Custom DNS Server and specify a custom DNS server if
PowerProtect Data Manager is being deployed to an Azure cloud to support Azure VMware Solution (AVS).
Specify the fully qualified domain name. For example,
hostname.domain
Click
Next.
In the
Ready to Complete window, verify the OVF template details, and click
Finish.
