Install an update package

After an update package has been downloaded or uploaded, you can install it to PowerProtect Data Manager.

Steps

  1. Log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager user interface as a user with the Administrator role.
  2. Click Settings icon, and then select Software Update.
  3. From the Software Update window, click Install Update.
The Software Update > Install Update pane displays the update package ready to install.
  4. From the Software Update > Install Update pane, click Install.
    The update wizard is displayed.
  5. Depending on the nature of the update package, the update wizard can consist of a different number of stages. Click Next at all but the last stage, and click Finish at the last stage. You can also click Back or Cancel at any stage.
NOTE:If you are installing an update package to update PowerProtect Data Manager to the latest version, follow the more detailed instructions later in this chapter.
    1. Precheck. This is displayed when a precheck is automatically performed.
      • If a critical issue is found, the update is cancelled. Fix any issues and run the precheck to ensure that the issue is fixed.
      • If non-critical issues are found, it is recommended that you fix any issues and run the precheck before proceeding with the update.
NOTE:For information about leaving Take snapshot selected, see Taking a snapshot when installing an update package.
    2. Summary. Review the details of the update.

Results

If the installation succeeds, the update package is removed from the Software Update > Install Update pane. However, you can click the History tab from Software Update > Install Update pane to see a history of all successful updates.

If the installation fails, the update package remains in the Software Update > Install Update pane, along with details of the failure.
