Troubleshooting licensing issues

Review the following information if you have a licensing issue.

Missing License Authorization Code (LAC)

If you do not have an LAC, you have the following options:

  • Search for entitlements
    1. Go to the Software Licensing Central website and click Entitlements > Entitlements.
    2. Enter the sales order number or purchase order number, and then click Search.
  • Request a new LAC

Request a duplicate LAC by sending an email to licensekeys@dell.com and include the following information:

    • Site name
    • Site ID
    • Contact telephone number
    • Product serial number
    • Number of hosts that require an LAC

If you require further assistance, contact 800-782-4362 and select option 4 twice.

Applying a license file results in a 403 error

If you apply a license file, you might see the following error:
403: The submitted license is invalid.
Check that the license has not been modified or contact Support.
Contact system administrator.

This can happen when the license file is not downloaded directly from the license portal or it has been sent in an email message, and it has been corrupted in some way. Alternatively, the information is incorrectly copied and pasted. An example of corrupted text follows:

license details

In this example, the corruption occurs around the replacement character (replacement character) that has replaced regular UTF encoded characters.

To resolve the issue, download the license file directly from the license portal, and then upload it by clicking Upload File.
