PowerProtect Data Manager 19.16 Storage Array User Guide

Create a manual snapshot

For a block volume asset that is protected by a policy with a snapshot objective, you can create a single snapshot of the asset by using the Take Snapshot functionality.

About this task

Snapshots are read-only, point-in-time copies of data within a volume or volume group that provide local data protection. Creating a snapshot saves the state of the asset at that particular point-in-time.

Steps

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Infrastructure > Assets.
    The Assets window appears.
  2. Select the Block Volumes tab.
The list of block volume assets appears.
  3. Select a block volume asset from the list, and then click Take Snapshot.
You must select an asset that belongs to a protection policy with a configured snapshot objective.

Results

The snapshot operation starts automatically.
