Prerequisites to Tanzu Kubernetes guest cluster protection

Review the following requirements before adding a Tanzu Kubernetes guest cluster in PowerProtect Data Manager for namespace and PVC protection.

  • Verify that the minimum required vSphere version is installed. The compatibility matrix at E-Lab Navigator provides details.
  • Add CNS Privileges > Searchable(PowerCLI equivalent Cns.Searchable) to the vCenter user account privileges. A list of other required privileges is provided in the PowerProtect Data Manager Virtual Machine User Guide
  • NSX-T based and VDS based networking deployments are supported. However, VDS networking deployments require vSphere version 8.0 U1 or later.
  • It is recommended that communication between vSphere and the Tanzu Kubernetes guest cluster be routable.
  • Complete a one-time configuration to set up the velero-plugin-for-vSphere in the Supervisor cluster, as described in the section Set up the velero-plugin-for-vSphere in the Supervisor cluster.
