Delete a block volume asset source

Perform the following procedure to delete a PowerStore or PowerMax asset source.

Prerequisites

Before deleting a block volume asset source, ensure that no backup or restore activities are running for any assets on the storage array.

CAUTION:If there are backups or restores running when the asset source is deleted, the protection operations fail.

Steps

  1. Log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager user interface as a user with the Administrator role.
  2. From the left navigation pane, select Infrastructure > Asset Sources.
    The Asset Sources window appears.
  3. Click the PowerStore or PowerMax tab.
    The list of configured block volume asset sources appears.
  4. For PowerMax, expand the asset source, and for any enabled storage arrays, select More Actions > Disable Management.
    NOTE:Deleting a Unisphere for PowerMax asset source in list view is not supported. Switch to tree view to delete this asset source.
  5. Select the asset source from the list and then click Delete.
    PowerProtect Data Manager warns you to remove associated assets from protection policies. Click OK to acknowledge the warning.

    PowerProtect Data Manager removes the selected asset source.
