Protection policy limitations

Observe the following information when planning data protection:

PowerProtect Data Manager limitations

  • SLA compliance is not supported for block volume protection policies.
  • PowerProtect Data Manager does not support protection of PowerStore metro volumes.

PowerStore limitations

NOTE:These limitations originate from PowerStore. Future updates to the PowerStore software may affect limitations on PowerProtect Data Manager functionality.
  • Forcing a full backup is not supported for block volume protection policies. Only synthetic full backups are supported.
  • PowerStore 500T supports a maximum of eight storage units. All other PowerStore models support a maximum of 12 storage units, regardless of whether the storage units are created on the same protection storage or different protection storage.
  • When the last backup copy is moved to Cloud Tier, subsequent backups fail.
