Refresh PowerStore block volume data on a clone using a snapshot
You can use the refresh operation to update the data on a clone of a PowerStore volume or volume group with the data from a snapshot copy.
Prerequisites
Note the following:
- Make sure that the application using the storage groups to be restored is shut down.
- Detach the volumes to be restored from all associated hosts.
Steps
- Log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager user interface as a user with the Administrator role.

From the left navigation pane, select

The Restore window appears.

Click the
PowerStore Block tab.
The Restore window displays a list of block volume assets.

Restore individual assets or an asset group:
- To restore individual volume/volume group assets, use list view and select the checkbox next to the asset that contains the backup. Click Restore to restore the most recent copy of the asset, or click View Copies to select from the available asset copies and then click Restore.
- To restore all of the volumes/volume groups from an asset group, switch to group view and select the checkbox next to the asset group. Click Restore to restore the most recent copy of the volume or volume group, or click View Copies to select from the available copies and then click Restore.
You can also use the Search field or the filter in the Name column to locate a specific asset.The Restore wizard opens on the Copy Selection page. -
Select the snapshot objective from the associated protection policy.
The wizard displays a list of the available snapshot copies.

Select an available copy, and then click
Next.
The Restore wizard moves to the Location page.

Select
Refresh data on the clone copy.
The wizard displays a list of the available clones that you can update with the data from the snapshot copy.

Select a clone from the list, and then click
Next.
Make sure to select a clone within the same storage array as the backup copy.
- On the Summary page, verify the details, and then click Restore to start the restore.

Go to the
window to monitor the restore.
A restore job appears with a progress bar and start time. If a restore job for this asset is already in progress, PowerProtect Data Manager queues a new restore job.
