PowerProtect Data Manager 19.17 Storage Array User Guide

Review the protection policy summary

Review the protection policy configuration details. You can click Edit next to any completed step details to change any information. When you are finished reviewing the details, click Finish.

Select Show Schedules to display schedule details for each objective.

An informational message appears to confirm that PowerProtect Data Manager has saved the protection policy. For centralized backups, when a new protection policy is created, PowerProtect Data Manager performs the first full backup and subsequent backups according to the specified schedule.

When the protection policy is created, a policy configuration job is started. For a PowerStore block volume type policy, this job creates a user with privileges for the target protection storage that is selected for this policy. The name of this user is in the format user_ targetStorageName_UniqueIdentifier. One user is always created for every target protection storage system selected.

Click OK to exit the window, or click Go to Jobs to open the Jobs > Protection Jobs window to monitor the backup of the new protection policy.

NOTE:Jobs that do not complete successfully or are canceled cannot be restarted from the Jobs window. For incomplete jobs, run Protect Now from the Protection > Protection Policies window, or wait for the next scheduled backup.

Once the assets are protected, you can determine which assets are crash-consistent and application-consistent from within the Infrastructure > Assets window. In this window, select a copy and click View Copies. The Consistency column identifies whether the storage group is Crash Consistent or Application Consistent.
