PowerProtect Data Manager 19.17 Storage Array User Guide
Roadmap for PowerStore volume and volume group protection
The following roadmap provides the steps required to configure the PowerStore array in PowerProtect Data Manager in order to run protection policies.
Steps
-
Review the compatibility information to verify that
PowerProtect Data Manager supports the PowerStore system version.
The E-Lab Navigator provides software compatibility information for the PowerProtect Data Manager software.
-
Review the section
PowerStore solution architecture to verify the following:
- The LAN prerequisites for component connectivity (PowerStore cluster/appliance, protection storage system, PowerProtect Data Manager).
- All LAN connections are available (for example, TCP ports are open and VLAN is configured).
- The data VLAN is added into PowerProtect Data Manager to separate management and data traffic between PowerStore, PowerProtect Data Manager, and the protection storage system. VLAN separation of management and data traffic at the PowerStore level is mandatory.
- In the PowerProtect Data Manager UI window, enable the PowerStore asset source and then add the PowerStore cluster in PowerProtect Data Manager.
-
Add a storage system.
The PowerProtect Data Manager Administrator Guide provides instructions for adding protection storage.NOTE:It is recommended that you use a minimum 25 GbE network for accessing this storage system.
-
If application-consistent backups are required:
-
Install the File System agent on the host.
The PowerProtect Data Manager File System User Guide provides instructions.
- Use the window to add pre/post scripts into PowerProtect Data Manager with parameters that are specific to the protected application (for example, Epic, MEDITECH). Note that MEDITECH scripts are only supported for PowerStore in PowerProtect Data Manager 19.17.
- In the window, create one or more asset groups, and add all dependent application volumes and/or volume groups.
- Associate the application host to run the scripts, as well as the operating system user, pre/post scripts, timeouts, and values for parameters that are specific to the particular application instance.
-
Install the File System agent on the host.
- In the window, add a protection policy to protect the PowerStore assets and/or asset groups.
