PowerProtect Data Manager 19.17 Storage Array User Guide

Select protection policy asset groups

Application-consistent protection policies are used to protect script-enabled asset groups. If the protection policy is for crash-consistent asset protection only, you can click Next to proceed to the Assets page.

Prerequisites

In the Infrastructure > Assets window, select windows icon to switch to the group view, and then set the protection level for parent and child storage groups based on your protection requirements.

For example, if the protection level of a storage group is set to Parent, only parent storage groups can be added to the protection policy and asset group, and all of its child storage groups are automatically protected. Individual protection of child storage group is not possible. However, if protection level of a storage group is set to Child, only child storage groups can be added to the protection policy and asset group, and parent storage groups cannot be protected.

Setting the protection level does not apply to standalone storage groups.

Steps

  1. On the Asset Groups page, select an asset group that contains the storage groups that you want to protect.
  2. Click Next.

Results

The wizard moves to the Assets page. Continue to Select protection policy assets.

NOTE:Once a storage group is a part of an asset group, the storage group will not display on the Assets page.
