PowerProtect Data Manager 19.17 Storage Array User Guide
Set the PowerMax storage group protection level for parent and child storage groups
A PowerMax array can include standalone, parent, and child storage groups. By default, the protection level of a Parent storage group and its associated Child storage groups is set to Parent, which will result in all of that parent's child storage groups being protected when the parent storage group is added to a protection policy. PowerProtect Data Manager allows you to protect individual child storage groups under a parent storage group by changing the protection level. Perform the following steps to change a storage group protection level.
About this task
Steps
- Go to and select the PowerMax Block tab.
-
Select a storage group, and then select
.
If the protection level of a storage group is set to Parent, only parent storage groups can be added to a protection policy and asset group, and all its child storage groups are automatically protected. In this case, individual protection of child storage group is not possible.
If the protection level of a storage group is set to Child, only individual child storage groups can be added to protection policies and asset groups, and parent storage groups cannot be protected.
