Supported protection policy purposes

These points provide generalized descriptions of PowerProtect Data Manager behavior. The different asset types prescribe asset-specific actions and conditions for each purpose:

• Crash Consistent—PowerProtect Data Manager takes a snapshot of the virtual asset as it appears in storage at the beginning of the backup to ensure point-in-time protection. This snapshot includes all disks (VMDKs) that are part of the virtual machine backup.
• Exclusion—Assigns specific assets to an exclusion policy and marks them as intentionally exempt from data protection operations so that these assets do not display as Unprotected. PowerProtect Data Manager also restricts the specified assets from being assigned to other protection policies.
