Sample DCB Configuration

The following shows examples of using PFC and ETS to manage your data center traffic.

PFC and ETS Configuration Command Examples

In the following example:
  • Incoming SAN traffic is configured for priority-based flow control.
  • Outbound LAN, IPC, and SAN traffic is mapped into three ETS priority groups and configured for enhanced traffic selection (bandwidth allocation and scheduling).
  • One lossless queue is used.
Figure 1. PFC and ETS Applied to LAN, IPC, and SAN Priority Traffic
Illustration of PFC and ETS applied to LAN, IPC, and SAN priority traffic.

QoS Traffic Classification: The service-class dynamic dot1p command has been used in Global Configuration mode to map ingress dot1p frames to the queues shown in the following table. For more information, refer to QoS dot1p Traffic Classification and Queue Assignment.

The following describes the dot1p-priority class group assignment

The following examples show PFC and ETS configuration commands to manage your data center traffic.
  1. Enabling DCB
    DellEMC(conf)#dcb enable
  2. Configure DCB map and enable PFC, and ETS
    DellEMC(conf)# service-class dynamic dot1p

    Or

    DellEMC(conf)# interface tengigabitethernet 1/1
    DellEMC(conf-if-te-1/1)# service-class dynamic dot1p
  3. Apply DCB map to relevant interface

    dcb-map test
    priority-group 1 bandwidth 50 pfc on
    priority-group 2 bandwidth 45 pfc off
priority group 3 bandwidth 5 pfc on
    priority-pgid 2 2 2 1 3 2 2 2

Example of Applying DCB Map to an Interface

DellEMC(conf)# int tengigabitethernet 1/1
DellEMC(conf-if-te-1/1)# dcb-map test
