Dell iDRAC Service Module 5.0.1.0 User’s Guide

Install iDRAC Service Module in container environment

iDRAC Service Module (iSM) can be created and deployed in a container environment using Docker and Podman container management technologies. The container deployment provides fast access to the environments and reduces setup and configurations. Dockerfile runs on the Docker and Podman container management environment, to create iSM application containers. Commands on the Dockerfile assemble the deployable iSM application container image.

iSM Dockerfile is published on the community site to build iSM application container image using Dell repository on customer premise. The created image can be run on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.

iSM application container is read-only, and all the configurations, features, and services of iSM selected during the creation is stored permanently. The services that are enabled or disabled from the host and iDRAC interfaces on container during runtime are not retained during restart of the container. The iSM container image is reloaded after the system reboot.
