Install iDRAC Service Module using Power CLI

To install the iDRAC Service Module (iSM) using Power CLI, complete the following steps:
  1. Install the supported Power CLI of ESXi on the supported Microsoft Windows operating system.
  2. Copy ISM-Dell-Web-<iSM version>-<bldno>.VIB-<ESXi version>i-Live.zip file to the ESXi host.
  3. Open the bin directory.
  4. Run Connect-VIServer and provide the server and other credentials.
  5. Log in to the ESXi host using supported vSphere CLI of ESXi and create a datastore.
  6. Create a folder ISM-Dell-Web-<iSM version>-<bldno>.VIB-<ESXi version>I on ESXi host under /vmfs/volumes/<datastore_name> directory.
  7. Copy the ESXi ZIP file on ESXi host to /vmfs/volumes/<datastore_name>ISM-Dell-Web-<iSM version>-<bldno>.VIB-<ESXi version>I directory.
  8. Extract the ZIP file in the above specified directory.
  9. Run the following command in Power CLI:
    esxcli -s <VMHost IP address> -u <username> -p <password>  --thumbprint <thumbprint>software vib install -d  /vmfs/volumes/<datastore_name>name>/ISM-Dell-Web-<iSM version>-<bldno>.VIB-<ESXi version>i-Live.zip
  10. Run the following command to verify if the iSM is successfully installed on the host:

    For ESXi: esxcli software component get -n DEL-dcism.

    iSM is displayed.
