Install iDRAC Service Module using vSphere Lifecycle Manager in vSphere Client

NOTE:Before installing, ensure that the downloaded iSM version is compatible with VMware ESXi.

To install iDRAC Service Module (iSM) using vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) in vSphere Client (VC), complete the following steps:

  1. Deploy VMware vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) on a supported operating system.
  2. Log in to vSphere Client (VC).
  3. To create a data center, right-click vCenter server, and click New Datacenter.
  4. Right-click New Datacenter, and click Add Host. Enter or select information about the ESXi host using the wizard.
  5. Click Menu > Lifecycle Manager > Settings > Patch Setup > NEW, and enable the online repository.
    The source URL for the VUM repository is vmwaredepot.dell.com/index.xml.
  6. Click ACTIONS and click Sync Updates.
    iSM VIB is downloaded into vSphere Client.
  7. Create iDRAC Service Module baseline in vSphere Client.
  8. In the Attached Baselines panel, select the iSM baseline that is created.
  9. Click STAGE.
  10. In the Stage Patches |<Datacenter name> with <Baseline name> dialogue box, select the managed ESXi hostname to which the baseline must be staged.
  11. Click STAGE.
    The status of progress of staging is displayed on the Recent Tasks tab.
  12. After the staging is completed, in the Attached Baselines panel, select the iSM baseline name.
  13. Click REMEDIATE.
  14. In the Remediate |<Datacenter name> with <Baseline name> dialogue box, select the managed ESXi hostname.
  15. Click REMEDIATE.
    iSM is successfully installed.
