Dell iDRAC Service Module Security Configuration Guide

Scope of document

This guide provides an overview of the security configuration controls and settings available in iDRAC Service Module. This guide is intended to help facilitate secure deployment, usage, and maintenance of the software and hardware used in iDRAC Service Module .

This document describes the security configurations that are related to DelliDRAC Service Module (iSM) , and its installation, configuration, and functionality on the host operating system. The functionality might involve communication with other subsystems, which is out of scope for this document. The subsystems within the host include:

• Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC)
• Dell system firmware (BIOS)
• Operating system logging interface
• System chipset SATA controller
• NetSNMP configuration
• Microsoft Windows Registry
• Microsoft Windows certificate store

Subsystems outside the host include the Dell support server. The security posture of these subsystems is out of the scope of this document.
