Removing the heat sink
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the heat sink and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Peel the tape that secures the heat sink to the system board.
- In the reverse sequential order (7>6>5>4>3>2>1), loosen the seven captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
- Lift the heat sink off the system board.
