Installing the heatsink

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.

About this task

NOTE:If either the system board or the heat sink is replaced, use the thermal grease provided in the kit to ensure that thermal conductivity is achieved.
NOTE:The number of screws on the heat sink varies depending on the graphic card configuration ordered.

Steps

  1. Align the screw holes on the heat sink to the screw holes on the system board.
  2. In sequential order (1>2>3>4>5>6>7) or (1>2>3>4), tighten the seven or four captive screws, whichever is applicable, that secure the heat sink to the system board.
