Removing the system board
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in
Before working inside your computer.
NOTE:Ensure that your computer is in Service Mode. For more information see, step 6 in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the memory module.
- Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or M.2 2280 solid-state drive, whichever is applicable.
- Remove the wireless card.
- Remove the heatsink.

- Power-cable connector
- Keyboard backlight-cable connector
- Keyboard-cable connector
- Touchpad-cable connector
- Battery-cable connector
- Speaker-cable connector
- System fan-cable connector
- SSD-1 slot connector
- I/O board-cable connector

Steps
- Remove the three screws (M2.5x5) that secure the right display hinge to the system board.
- Open the right display hinge at an angle of 90 degrees.
- Peel the clear adhesive tape of the display cable connector.
- Open the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
- Peel the adhesive tape and disconnect the power-adapter port cable from the system board.
- Peel off the adhesive tape that secures the power-adapter port cable to the system board.
- Remove the two screws (M2x4) that secure the Type-C port bracket to the system board.
- Lift the Type-C port-bracket off the system board.
- Release the latch of the keyboard backlit connector on the system board and disconnect the keyboard backlit cable.
- Release the latch of the keyboard connector on the system board and disconnect the keyboard cable.
- Release the latch of the touchpad connector on the system board and disconnect the touchpad cable.
- Peel the clear adhesive tape to lift the latch of the I/O board connector and disconnect the I/O board connector from the system board.
- Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
- Remove the two screws (M2x1.8) that secure the system board to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
- Lift the system board at angle off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly, to clear the ports from the port openings.
