Removing the coin-cell battery

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.

About this task

NOTE: Removing the coin-cell battery resets the BIOS setup program's settings to default. It is recommended that you note the BIOS setup program's settings before removing the coin-cell battery.

Steps

  1. Lift the latch and disconnect the I/O-board cable from the I/O board.
  2. Move the I/O-board cable off the coin-cell battery.
  3. Disconnect the coin-cell battery from the I/O board.
  4. Peel and remove the coin-cell battery from the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
