Removing the microphones
CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the stand.
- Remove the back cover.
- Remove the I/O cover.
- Remove the hard drive.
- Remove the system-board shield.
- Remove the media-card reader.
- Remove the memory module.
- Remove the wireless card.
- Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or, M.2 2280 solid-state drive, as applicable.
- Remove the integrated heat sink or, discrete heat sink.
- Remove the system board.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the microphones and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.

Steps
- Remove the four screws (M2X3.5) that secure the microphone module to the display-assembly base.
- Peel the tape that secures the microphone cable to the display-assembly base.
- Remove the microphone cable from the routing guides on the display-assembly base.
- Lift the microphone module off the display-assembly base.
