Removing the 2230 solid-state drive

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
    NOTE:Solid-state drives are fragile. Exercise care when handling the solid-state drive.
    NOTE:To avoid data loss, do not remove the solid-state drive while the computer is in sleep or on state.
  2. Remove the SIM card.
  3. Remove the SD card.
  4. Remove the base cover.
  5. Disconnect the battery cable from its connector on the system board.

Steps

  1. Remove the two screws (M2x2) and remove the solid-state drive thermal bracket that secures the M.2 solid-state drive.
  2. Remove the single screw (M2x2) that secures the M.2 2230 solid-state drive to the system board .
  3. Slide and remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive from the solid-state drive slot on the system board.
