Removing the System Board

Steps

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside your computer.
  2. Remove:
    1. SD card
    2. ExpressCard
    3. battery
    4. keyboard
    5. hard drive
    6. optical drive
    7. display-hinge cap
    8. base cover
    9. base-corner cover
    10. power connector
    11. coin cell
    12. memory
    13. WLAN card
    14. WWAN card
    15. heatsink
    16. processor
    17. VGA board
    18. ExpressCard cage
  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Disconnect the WiFi-switch from the system board.
    2. Disconnect the speaker cables from the system board.

  4. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the computer.

  5. Lift the system board from the computer.
