Migration from unserved license to new unserved XML license

To migrate from an unserved license to a new unserved XML license, perform the following steps:

  1. On the NetWorker server, launch the NMC Administration window, right-click the server, and then select Properties from the list. The Server Properties window appears.
    1. Select the Licensing tab.
    2. In the CLP license text field, clear the CLP license text field contents.
  2. Go to the command prompt and run nsradmin -d "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\res\nsrdb".
    Type visual for full-screen mode.
    Select a resource type to be displayed, and choose the resource NSR license .
    Delete all licenses under type NSR license .
    NOTE:Before removing any existing licenses of type NSR license, ensure that a valid XML license is in place. If you encounter any issues, contact the Dell licensing team.
    Select a resource type to be displayed, and choose the resource NSR.
    Select the Edit option and clear the following contents:
    • CLP SWID
    • Solution ID
  3. Depending on the operating system, perform the following steps:
    • In all Linux flavors:
      • Stop the NetWorker services.
      • Edit the licspec.properties file in /nsr/lic, and add the following entries:
        • license.topology=Unserved
        • license.path=/nsr/lic/dpa.xml
        NOTE:Change the license path from /nsr/lic/dpa.lic to /nsr/lic/dpa.xml.
      • Start the NetWorker services.
    • In all Windows flavors:
      • Stop the NetWorker services.
      • Edit the licspec.properties file in C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\lic, and add the following entries:
        • license.topology=Unserved
        • license.path=C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\lic\dpa.xml
        NOTE: Change the license path from C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\lic\dpa.lic to C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\lic\dpa.xml.
      • Start the NetWorker services.
  4. On the NetWorker server, launch the NMC Administration window, right-click the server, and then select Properties from the list. The Server Properties window appears.
    1. Select the Licensing tab.
    2. In the CLP license text field, click Browse.
    3. Browse the location of the license file, and select the license file.
    4. Before clicking OK, check the Enable the CLP refresh box, and apply for the license.
    5. Click Validate license. The Validate license button will be disabled until the contents are validated. You can check the status by using the nsrlic -C command.
  5. In the Server Properties window, on the Licensing tab, ensure that the following fields have the correct values, and then click OK.
    • Solution ID
    • CLP SWID
  6. In the NMC Administration window, click Server, and then select Registrations. Confirm that the right pane displays an entry for CLP Capacity License that indicates the Authorized -No expiration date.
