Manage firmware update jobs of hosts

About this task

After the firmware update tasks are complete and once the firmware update tasks are scheduled or initiated, you can view the status of the firmware update jobs on the Host Firmware Update Jobs page.

Steps

  1. On the OMEVV home page, click Jobs > Firmware Update > Host Firmware Update.
  2. To view the latest job information, click the refresh icon.
    A table displays all the host firmware update jobs along with the following information:
    • Status—The status of the firmware update job.
    • Scheduled time—The firmware update job scheduled time.
    • Name—The name of the job.
    • Description—The firmware update job description.
    • vCenter—The name of the vCenter.
    • Collection Size—The number of servers in the firmware update job.
    • Progress Summary—Displays the progress of the firmware update job.
  3. To view more information about a job, select a job.
    The following information is displayed in the lower grid:
    • Host—The IP or host name.
    • Status—The status of the job.
    • Start Time and Date—The firmware update job start date and time.
    • End Time and Date—The firmware update job end date and time.
    • Details—The details of the firmware update job.
  4. If you want to stop a scheduled or running firmware update job, select the job that you want to stop, and click STOP.
    WARNING If you stop a firmware update job that is already submitted to OpenManage Enterprise, the firmware might still get updated on the host. OMEVV reports the job as canceled.
  5. If you want to edit a scheduled or running firmware update job, select the job that you want to edit, and click EDIT.
  6. If you want to purge earlier firmware update jobs , click CLEAR COMPLETED.
    The Purge Firmware Update Jobs dialog box is displayed. You can only purge jobs that are canceled, successful, completed with errors or failed, and cannot purge scheduled or active jobs.
  7. In the Purge Firmware Update Jobs dialog box, select Earlier than date and job Status, click OK.
    The selected jobs are and then cleared from the Host Firmware Update jobs list.
    NOTE Job is created for each host of vLCM firmware update job.
    NOTE After discovering a host, if the host is removed from vCenter, the details that are related to job and execution history is displayed as Not Available.
