View OMEVV host information

View hardware information of a host

You can view the hardware, storage, firmware, power monitoring, warranty, and hardware log information about all the OMEVV-managed hosts on the OMEVV Host Information page.

  1. On the vSphere Client page, expand Menu >Inventory, and then select Hosts.
  2. In the left pane, select a host, and then click Hosts & Clusters and select one of the hosts, select OMEVV Host Information under OpenManage Enterprise Plugin.
Table 1. Hardware information for a single hostThe following table provides the hardware information for the hardware components, such as FRU, Processor, Power Supply, Memory, NICs, PCI Slots, iDRAC:
Hardware: Component Information
FRU
  • Name—displays the FRU part name.
  • Manufacturer—displays the name of the manufacturer.
  • Part Number—displays the FRU part number.
  • Serial Number—displays the serial number of the manufacturer.
Processors
  • Family—displays the processor family name.
  • Max Speed (MHz)—displays the maximum speed.
  • Current Speed (MHz)—displays the current speed.
  • Total Cores—displays the total number of cores in this processor.
  • Enabled Cores—displays the number of enabled cores in this processor.
  • Brand Name—displays the processor brand.
  • Model Name—displays the processor model name.
  • Total—displays total number of processors.
Power Supplies
  • Status—displays the status.
  • Watts—displays the power in watts.
  • Name—displays the name.
  • Location—displays the location of the power supply, such as slot 1.
  • State—displays the state.
  • Total—displays total number of processors.
Memory
  • Memory Slots—displays the Used, Total, and Available memory count.
  • Memory Capacity—displays the Installed Memory.
  • Name—displays the name.
  • Size—displays the memory size.
  • Speed—displays the memory speed.
  • Current Operating Speed—displays the current speed.
  • Type—displays the memory type.
NICs
  • Total Logical Ports (NICs)—displays the total number of logical ports of NIC in the server.
  • FQDD—displays the NIC FQDD.
  • Product Name—displays the NIC name.
  • Manufacturer—displays only the manufacturer name.
  • MAC Address—displays the NIC MAC address.
  • Link Status—displays the link status.
PCI Slots
  • FQDD—displays the PCI FQDD.
  • Manufacturer—displays the manufacturer name of the PCI slot.
  • Description—displays the description of the PCI device.
  • Data Bus Width—displays the data bus width, if available.
  • Slot Type—displays the PCI slot type.
NOTE Along with PCI slot information, other slot information such as Power Supply, Fan, DIMM, Processor, SD card, IDSDM, Physical Disk, Enclosure Fan, and Enclosure Power Supply are displayed for modular servers.
iDRAC
  • IP Address—display the IP address for the remote access card.

    If you are managing hosts using unified IP address, the iDRAC IP is not displayed in this section.

  • MAC Address—displays the MAC address for the remote access card.
  • URL—displays the live URL for the iDRAC associated with this host.

View storage information of a host

You can view the Virtual Disks, Controllers, Enclosures, and associated Physical Disks with the Global Hot Spares, and Dedicated Hot Spare. To view more information about each of the storage components, from the View drop-down menu, select the specific component.

NOTE When the hosts are managed by using unified IP, if you click Storage, and then select the following from the View drop-down menu:
  • Physical Disks—The media type for hard drive is displayed as Magnetic Drive instead of Hard Disk Drive.
Table 2. Storage details for a single hostThe following table provides information about virtual drives, hard drives, controllers, and enclosures:
Information Description
Virtual Disks
  • Virtual Disks—displays the name of the virtual drive.
  • Device FQDD—displays the FQDD.
  • Physical Disk—displays on which hard drive the virtual drive is located.
  • Capacity—displays the capacity of the virtual drive.
  • Layout—displays the layout type of the virtual storage, which means the type of RAID that was configured for this virtual drive.
    NOTE The ESXi does not support software RAID. If the system has software RAID, it shows incorrect disks.
  • Media Type—displays either Solid-State Drive or Hard Disk Drive.

To view information such as Stripe Size, Bus Protocol, and Cache Policy, select a virtual disk.

  • Stripe Size—displays the stripe size, which is the amount of space that each stripe consumes on a single disk.
  • Default Read Policy—displays the default read policy that is supported by the controller. The options include:
    • Read-Ahead
    • No-Read-Ahead
    • Adaptive Read-Ahead
    • Read Cache Enabled
    • Read Cache Disabled
  • Default Write Policy—displays the default write policy that is supported by the controller. The options include:
    • Write-Back
    • Force Write Back
    • Write Back Enabled
    • Write-Through
    • Write Cache Enabled Protected
    • Write Cache Disabled
  • Cache Policy—displays if cache policy is enabled.
Physical Disks

When you select this option from the View drop-down menu, the  Filter drop-down list is displayed.

The following options are available in the filter:

  • All Physical Disks
  • Global Hot Spares
  • Dedicated Hot Spares
  • The last option displays custom name of the virtual drives.
  • Device FQDD—displays the device FQDD.
  • Capacity—displays the hard drive capacity.
  • Remaining Rated Write Endurance—displays the SSD remaining write endurance.
  • Media Type—displays either SSD or hard drive.
  • Disk Status—displays hard drive status. The options include:
    • ONLINE
    • READY
    • DEGRADED
    • FAILED
    • OFFLINE
    • REBUILDING
    • INCOMPATIBLE
    • REMOVED
    • CLEARED
    • SMART ALERT DETECTED
    • UNKNOWN
    • FOREIGN
    • UNSUPPORTED
  • Hot Spare Type(Not applicable for PCIe)—shows the hot spare type. The options include:
    • None—there is no hot spare.
    • Global—an unused backup disk that is part of the disk group
    • Dedicated—an unused backup disk that is assigned to a single virtual drive. When a hard drive in the virtual drive crashes, the hot spare is enabled to replace the failed hard drive without interrupting the system or requiring your intervention.
  • Virtual Disk—displays the name of the virtual drive.

To view information such as Media Type, Bus Protocol, and SAS Address  select a physical  disk.

  • Bus Protocol—displays the bus protocol.
  • Disk Number—displays the disk number.
  • Vendor—displays the storage vendor name.
  • Serial Number—displays the storage serial number.
  • Part Number—displays the storage part number.
  • Security state—displays the security state.
  • Encryption Ability—displays the status for the ability to encrypt.
  • SAS Address—displays the SAS address.
  • Status—displays the physical disk status.
  • Controller ID—displays the controller ID.
  • Connector ID—displays the connector ID.
Controllers
  • Name—displays the name of the controller.
  • Device FQDD—displays the FQDD of the device.
  • Firmware Version—displays the firmware version.
  • Driver Verion—displays the driver version.
  • Cache Memory Size(MB)—displays the cache size.
Enclosures
  • Name
  • Channel Number
  • BackPlane
  • Version
Dedicated Hot Spares
  • Device FQDD
  • Capacity
  • Disk Status
  • Hot Spare Type
  • Virtual Disks
Global Hot Spares

NOTE For all the hosts managed using unified IP, complete storage information is not displayed.

View firmware information of a single host

The following firmware-related information is displayed:

  • Name—displays the name of all the firmware on this host.
  • Type—displays the type of firmware.
  • Version—displays the version of all the firmware on this host.
  • Installation Date—displays the installation date.

You can launch firmware update and configure firmware update wizards from this page.

View power monitoring information of a single host

You can view the information such as reserve power capacity, and energy statistics.

  • System Head Room—displays the Instantaneous and Peak power in watts.

Energy Statistics

  • Type—displays the energy statistics type.
  • Measurement Start Time (Host Time)—displays the date and time when the host began to consume power.
  • Measurement Finish Time (Host Time)—displays the date and time when the host stopped to consume power.
    NOTE The host time, as used here, means the local time where the host is located.
  • Reading—displays the average value of readings over a one-minute time period.
  • Instantaneous—displays the instantaneous power of the host.
  • Peak—displays the Peak power of the host.
NOTE Power monitoring information is not available for hosts with cabled PSU or for modular servers.
NOTE For hosts managed using unified IP, complete power monitoring information is not displayed.

View warranty information of a single host

To view a warranty status, ensure that you run a warranty job in OME. The Warranty Status page enables you to monitor the warranty expiration date. The warranty settings control when server warranty information is retrieved from Dell online by enabling or disabling the warranty schedule, and then setting the Minimum Days Threshold alert in OME.
  • Host—displays the name of the host.
  • Service Tag—displays the service tag.
  • Description—displays a description.
  • Warranty Status—displays the warranty status of the host. Status options include:
    • Active—the host is under warranty, and has not exceeded any threshold.
    • Warning—the host is Active, but exceeded the warning threshold.
    • Expired—the warranty has expired for this host.
  • Warranty Type—displays the following statuses:
    • Initial
    • Extended
  • Days Left—displays the days left on the warranty.

View log information of a single host

Hardware log provides status information for hardware that is discovered by OMEVV and displays the following information:

  • Severity—There are several status icons such as Informational (blue exclamation point), Warning (yellow triangle with exclamation point), Error (red X).

    The severity levels are defined as:

    • Info
    • Warning
    • Error
  • Time (Server Time)—Indicates the time and date when the event occurred.
  • Description—Provides the description of the log information.
NOTE For Dell PowerEdge 13G Server, hardware log information is not displayed.
