Installing the system board
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in Before working on your system
- Remove the following:
- System cover.
- Air shroud.
- Memory modules.
- Processor.
- Heatsink.
- Expansion card riser (if installed).
- Internal PERC card or Front PERC riser (if installed).
Steps
- Unpack the new system board.
CAUTION: Do not lift the system board by holding a memory module, processor, or other components.
- Holding the system board holder lower the system board in to the chassis.
- Incline the system board at an angle, align the connectors with the slots on the rear of the system and push the system board till firmly seated.
- Install and tighten the eight screws to secure the system board in place,

Next steps
- Replace the following:
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
- Internal Perc card or Front PERC riser.
- Expansion card riser.
- Processor (if removed).
- Heatsink (if removed).
- Memory modules (if installed).
- Reconnect all cables to the system board.
NOTE:Ensure that the cables inside the system are routed along the chassis wall and secured using the cable securing bracket.
- Install the air shroud.
- Install the system cover.
- Ensure that you perform the following steps:
- Use the Easy Restore feature to restore the Service Tag. See the Restoring the system by using the Easy Restore feature section.
- If the service tag is not backed up in the backup flash device, enter the system service tag manually. See the Manually update the Service Tag by using System Setup section.
- Install BIOS and iDRAC version updates, Diagnostics, and OS Driver Pack and OS Collector.
- Re-enable the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). See the Upgrading the Trusted Platform Module section.
- Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
