Installing the system board
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
Steps
- Unpack the replacement system board assembly.CAUTION: Do not lift the system board by holding a memory module, processor, or other components.CAUTION:Take care not to damage the system identification button while placing the system board into the system.
- Holding the system board handle and blue release pin, incline the system board and lower the system board into the system.
- Slide the system board toward the
back of the system until the release pin clicks into place.

Next steps
- Replace the
following:
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM)NOTE:The TPM plug-in module is attached to the system board and cannot be removed. A replacement TPM plug-in module will be provided for all system board replacements where a TPM plug-in module was installed.
- Cable management bracket
- Integrated storage controller card
- Internal USB key (if applicable)
- IDSDM module
- Processor expansion module (PEM)
- Expansion cards and risers
- Processor and heat sink module
- Processors
- Memory modules and memory module blanks
- Network daughter card riser
- Fan cage with cooling fans
- Air shroud
- Power supply unit(s)
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
- Reconnect
all cables to the system board.NOTE:Ensure that the cables inside the system are routed along the chassis wall and secured using the cable securing bracket.
- Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
- Ensure that you:
- Use the Easy Restore feature to restore the Service Tag. For more information, see the Restoring the Service Tag by using the Easy Restore feature section.
- If the Service Tag is not backed up in the backup flash device, enter the Service Tag manually. For more information, see the Entering the system Service Tag by using System Setup section.
- Update the BIOS and iDRAC versions.
- Re-enable the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). For more information, see the Upgrading the Trusted Platform Module section.
- Import your new or existing iDRAC Enterprise license. For more information, see Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller User's Guide, at www.dell.com/poweredgemanuals.
