Dell PowerEdge R940 Installation and Service Manual

The components mentioned below are the minimum configuration to POST:

• Two processor configurations:
  • Two Processors one in each socket, processor 1 and processor 2
    NOTE: For using Intel 61xx and 81xx series processors, you will need 2 UPI cables. For more information, see the Dell EMC PowerEdge R940 Installation and Service manual.
  • Two memory dimms one for processor 1 on channel A1 and second for processor 2 on channel B1
  • One power supply unit
  • Right control panel and cable (for power button functionality)
  • System board
• Four processor configurations:
  • Four processors in socket processor 1, processor 2, processor 3, and processor 4
  • One memory module (DIMM) on each channel A1, B1, C1, D1 for processor 1, processor 2, processor 3, and processor 4
  • PEM
  • 4 UPI cables and a clock cable
  • Two PEM power boards
  • One power supply unit
  • Right control panel and cable (for power button functionality)
  • System board
