Installing the CPU cooling fan cage assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
    CAUTION: Ensure that the cables inside the system are correctly installed and retained by the cable retention bracket before installing the cooling fan cage assembly. Incorrectly installed cables may get damaged.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Remove the air shroud
  5. Remove the cooling fans

Steps

  1. Lower the cooling fan cage assembly into the system until seated firmly.
  2. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, with the torque value of 6±10% lbf-in to tighten the four screws to lock the cooling fan cage assembly into the system.

  3. Lift the cable access and route the cables connecting from front to the rear of the system routed through the cable access. Using a Phillips 1 screwdriver, with the torque value of 4±10% lbf-in to tighten the captive screw on cable access door.
