Installing a GPU fan
There are six GPU fans on the system. The procedure to install each of the fans is similar.
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
- Remove the rear support bracket.
- Remove the air shroud
- Remove the cooling fans
- Remove the cooling fan assembly
- Disconnect the backplane cables.
- Disconnect the GPU fan cables that are connected to the GPU fan board.
- Remove the GPU fan board
Steps
Align and lower the GPU fan into the GPU fan cage assembly until the fan clicks

Next steps
- Install the GPU fan board
- Reconnect the GPU fan cable to the slot on the GPU fan board.
- Install the cooling fan assembly
- Install the CPU cooling fan
- Install the air shroud
- Install the rear support bracket
- Follow the procedure listed in the After working inside your system.
