Installing the GPU fan assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Remove the air shroud
  5. Remove the cooling fans
  6. Remove the cooling fan assembly
  7. Disconnect the backplane cables.
  8. Disconnect the GPU fan cables that are connected to the GPU fan board.
  9. Remove the GPU fan board
  10. Remove the GPU fans

Steps

  1. Lower the GPU fan cage assembly into the system while aligning with the guide slots on the system.
    NOTE:Ensure that the TOP side mark on the fan cage is in the correct position.
  2. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, tighten the screws of the GPU fan cage to lock the assembly on the system.

Next steps

  1. Install the GPU fans
  2. Install the GPU fan board
  3. Reconnect the GPU fan cables onto the GPU fan board.
  4. Connect the drive backplane cables to the connectors on the system board and backplane.
  5. Install the cooling fan assembly
  6. Install the CPU cooling fan
  7. Install the air shroud
  8. Install the rear support bracket
  9. Follow the procedure listed in the After working inside your system.
