Installing the PCIe Base Board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Remove the air shroud.
  5. Remove the cooling fans.
  6. Remove the cooling fan assembly.
  7. Disconnect the backplane cables.
  8. Disconnect the GPU fan cables that are connected to the GPU fan board.
  9. Remove the GPU fan board.
  10. Remove the GPU fans.
  11. Remove the GPU fan cage.
  12. Removing the side brackets.
  13. Sliding out the drive cage .
  14. Removing the expansion card, if installed

Steps

  1. Hold the board by thumbscrew at one side and the holder at another side of the board, align and insert the tabs on the PCIe base board with the slots on the system.
  2. Slide the PCIe base board forward until it clicks into place.

  3. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, tighten the thumbscrew on the PCIe base board.
  4. Slide the PSBB board side brackets on the guide pins of the chassis toward the rear of the system until it locks in its position.

Next steps

  1. Install the expansion card, if required
  2. Connect the cables to the PSB module from the system board.
  3. Slide in the drive cage.
  4. Install the side brackets.
  5. Install the GPU fan cage.
  6. Install the GPU fans.
  7. Install the GPU fan board.
  8. Reconnect the GPU fan cables onto the GPU fan board.
  9. Connect the drive backplane cables to the connectors on the system board and backplane.
  10. Install the cooling fan assembly.
  11. Install the CPU cooling fan.
  12. Install the air shroud.
  13. Install the rear support bracket.
  14. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
