Installing the VSB and VSB assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Remove the air shroud.
  5. Remove the PSU.
  6. Observe and disconnect the cables from the connectors on the power distribution board.
  7. Disconnect all the cables routed through the VSBs. This image shows the cables connected on the top layer.
  8. Removing the PSU cage

Steps

Align the VSB on the system board tray. Lift the plunger, align the VSB tray to the system board, and slide it toward the front of the system.
NOTE:The procedure to install the left and right VSBs are the same.

Next steps

  1. Install the PSU cage.
  2. Reconnect the signal cable on to the VSB. This image shows the cables connected on the top layer.
  3. Reconnect the cables to the connectors on the power distribution board.
  4. Install the PSU.
  5. Install the air shroud.
  6. Install the rear support bracket.
  7. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
