Removing the CPU cooling fan cage assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Removing the air shroud
  5. Removing the cooling fans

Steps

  1. Using a Phillips 1 screwdriver, with the torque value of 4±10% lbf-in to loosen the captive screw on the cable access door. Lift the cable access and disconnect the cables connecting from the front to the rear of the system routed through the cable access.
  2. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, with the torque value of 6±10% lbf-in to loosen the four screws to unlock the cooling fan cage assembly.
  3. Lift the cooling fan cage assembly to remove it from the system.
