Removing the GPU fan assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Remove the air shroud
  5. Remove the cooling fans
  6. Remove the cooling fan assembly
  7. Disconnect the backplane cables.
  8. Disconnect the GPU fan cables that are connected to the GPU fan board.
  9. Remove the GPU fan board
  10. Remove the GPU fans

Steps

  1. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, release the four thumbscrews that secure the GPU fan cage.
  2. Using both hands, lift the GPU fan cage to remove it from the system.
