Removing the GPU fan board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Remove the air shroud
  5. Remove the cooling fans
  6. Remove the cooling fan assembly
  7. Disconnect the backplane cables.
  8. Disconnect the GPU fan cables that are connected to the GPU fan board.

Steps

  1. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, loosen the two thumbscrews that secure the GPU fan board.
  2. Slide it toward the front of the system. Hold the blue standoff screws and lift the GPU fan board to remove it from the system.
