Removing the PCIe Base Board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the rear support bracket.
  4. Remove the air shroud
  5. Remove the cooling fans
  6. Remove the cooling fan assembly
  7. Disconnect the backplane cables.
  8. Disconnect the GPU fan cables that are connected to the GPU fan board.
  9. Remove the GPU fan board
  10. Remove the GPU fans
  11. Remove the GPU fan cage
  12. Removing the side brackets
  13. Sliding out the drive cage
  14. Removing the expansion card, if installed

Steps

  1. Release the plunger on the PSBB board side brackets, slide them toward the front of the system.

  2. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, loosen the thumbscrew on the PCIe base board.
  3. Hold the board by thumbscrew at one side and the holder at another side of the board, tilt it, and then lift it fully towards the front of the chassis.
