Removing the system board
Prerequisites
CAUTION:If you are using the
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) with an encryption key, you may be prompted to create a
recovery key during program or System Setup. Be sure to create and safely store this
recovery key. If you replace this system board, you must supply the recovery key when you
restart your system or program before you can access the encrypted data on your drives.
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
- Remove the following components:
- Rear support bracket.
- Air shroud.
- Cooling fans.
- Cooling fan assembly.
- Disconnect the backplane cables.
- Disconnect the GPU fan cables that are connected to the GPU fan board.
- GPU fan board.
- GPU fans.
- GPU fan assembly.
- Power supply units (PSU)
- Observe and disconnect the cables from the connectors on the power distribution board.
- PSU cage
- BOSS-N1 cage
- BOSS-N1 module
- OCP card (if installed)
- Memory modules
- Direct Liquid cooling module
- Processors
- Disconnect all the cables from the system
board and make note of all the cable connections. CAUTION:Take care not to damage the system identification button while removing the system board from the system.CAUTION: Do not lift the system board by holding a memory module, processor, or other components.
Steps
- Using the system board holder and plunger, slide the system board toward the front of the system.
- At a tilted angle, lift the system board out of the chassis.
