System memory guidelines
The XE9780 supports up to 16 DIMMs per processor (up to 32 DIMMs in a dual- processor configuration). Each server has 8 memory channels per processor, with each channel supporting up to 2 DIMMs.
Your system memory is organized into eight channels per processor (two memory sockets per channel),16 memory sockets per processor and 32 memory sockets per system.

Memory channels are organized as follows:
