Dell VxRail Architecture Overview

PDF

VxRail virtual network dependencies

VxRail is configured with a base set of virtual networks that require connectivity for the cluster to be properly built and operate. VxRail depends on these connections to the physical network to enable cluster operations.

Every VxRail cluster requires two separate virtual networks for management purposes. The external management network enables connectivity to the VxRail cluster for IT administration purposes. The internal management network supports node discovery for VxRail build and expansion operations.

For clusters leveraging VMware vSAN for primary storage, connectivity for the VMware vSAN network between the nodes is required. Connectivity between nodes is also required for the VMware vSphere vMotion network.

Guest networks for end-user access can be configured at Day 1 VxRail bring-up or as a Day 2 task after the VxRail cluster is built.
